Felicity is Still Riding

Dec 08, 2021

Felicity Vasquez is 9 year-old who has been diagnosed with meningioma(brain)/dysfunction of cranial nerves. Felicity was awarded a scholarship to support therapeutic riding lessons at New Heights back in 2020. The Grant’s Gift committee members decided to renew this scholarship for another year. These lessons have given Felicity the opportunity to enjoy physical activity geared toward her abilities. The relationship between Felicity and her horse provides her with needed emotional support. Over the last year Felicity’s riding skills have improved and she is now learning to canter. This experience and her success as a rider have improved Felicity’s confidence as she has now become aware of social interactions and responses of other kids. “Therapeutic riding is one of the best things in Felicity’s life, and it’s impossible for me to imagine where she would be physically and emotionally without it” Anitra Guillory (Felicity’s mom).

Miabella is a beautiful 2-year-old warrior who battles Epilepsy with multiple seizure types, an airway disorder and gait abnormalities that require her to walk with braces. She is required to go to many forms of therapy, almost daily. Because of a generous gift from the Grant's Gift Foundation / Cards4Kids fund at the NCF, she was given a high-tech stroller which will hold her upright and keep her comfortable. It is specially equipped to lay flat during seizures which keeps her and her mom safe during the episodes. Look at this beautiful child.
